Club Description and History
The Independence Soccer Club (ISC) is a dedicated youth soccer organization based in Independence, Kentucky. Founded in 1984, ISC has been a cornerstone of the local community, fostering a love for soccer among young players in Northern Kentucky.
As a proud member of Kentucky Youth Soccer, which represents over 40,000 youth players statewide, ISC offers both recreational and competitive programs to help children learn the game, build skills, and develop good sportsmanship.
The club's mission is to promote the growth and appreciation of soccer by providing opportunities for youth up to age 18 to participate in organized programs, learn the laws of the game, and emphasize fair play for all participants. Over the decades, ISC has grown to include various teams, tournaments like the 5v5 Color Explosion Tournament, and a strong emphasis on player development.
2026 Schedule and Expectations for Young Players
For the 2026 season, ISC continues its commitment to youth development with a mix of recreational and competitive schedules. ‹BRACKETS: Specific 2026 match schedules and tournament dates› are typically released closer to the season start, but practices and games generally run from early spring through fall, with tryouts held in May of the previous year.
Young soccer players can expect a supportive environment focused on skill-building, teamwork, and fun. Recreational programs emphasize participation and learning fundamentals, while competitive teams aim for higher-level play, including state cups and tournaments. Expectations include regular attendance at practices, positive attitudes, and adherence to sportsmanship principles to help players grow both on and off the field.
Fields and Rainout Procedure
ISC utilizes several high-quality fields in the area, including Middleton-Mills Park (primary home field), Lincoln Ridge Park, Doe Run Lake Park, and Pioneer Park. Field status updates are available on the club's website homepage.
The club maintains a stringent rainout policy to preserve field quality. A field maintenance professional inspects the fields daily for moisture saturation. Closures are posted on the website, even if weather appears clear, to prevent damage. For games (U8 and up), cancellations are communicated promptly, and referees are notified. Makeup games are rescheduled as needed, with coaches informing teams of changes.
Home Field: Middleton-Mills Park
Middleton-Mills Park, located at 3415 Mills Rd, Covington, KY 41015, serves as the primary home field for ISC. This 100-acre park, managed by Kenton County, features wooded areas, two stocked ponds, and recreational sport complexes ideal for soccer.
It includes multiple fields configured for various age groups, such as 11v11 for U14, 9v9 for U12, and smaller setups for younger players.
